Appliance-focused plans may suit homeowners whose systems are newer or already covered, but whose kitchen and laundry appliances are out of manufacturer warranty. Before buying, check whether your appliances are still under their original manufacturer warranty, since overlapping coverage adds cost without adding much protection.
How we evaluate plans for this need
We apply these criteria, in this order of importance, to every plan we consider for this page:
- Appliances listed by name. Kitchen and laundry appliances explicitly covered in the contract, including built-in microwaves and ice makers where relevant.
- Per-appliance caps. Payout limits per appliance that are meaningful relative to replacement cost.
- Replacement terms. Clear rules for when an appliance is replaced instead of repaired, and whether a cash-out option exists.
- Parts exclusions. Few exclusions for common failure points such as control boards, seals, and ice makers.
- Add-on pricing. Transparent pricing for second refrigerators, freezers, or other optional appliances.

Picks are being finalized
We name picks for this need only after scoring every verified contract against the criteria above. Meanwhile, compare all verified providers.
Before you buy
Availability, prices, and contract terms change and vary by address. Confirm the covered-items list, caps, exclusions, and service fee in the sample contract for your state. A plan we assess well may still be a poor fit for your home. See how to compare plans.
